This page talks about a Norwegian translation for MoinMoin. See also MoinMoinTranslation.

There are two official forms of written Norwegian - Bokmål (literally "book language") and Nynorsk ("new norwegian"). The ISO code for Norwegian in general is no, for Bokmål nb and for Nynorsk nn. Only the Bokmål version has been worked on.

Norwegian is very close related to Swedish and Danish. On one hand this is an advantage for the translation project since we can take a peek into how our neighbors did it. On the other hand this is a problem when it comes to filenames for the systempages (as long as MoinMoin does not support Namespaces). With Swedish, Danish, Bokmål and Nynorsk it is likely to be complicated to find uniqe names.

Status:

For MoinMoin 1.8: Complete translation avaliable for 1.8.3, and we aim to keep this up for the subsequent releases. No help texts or tutorials are available.

For MoinMoin 1.9: Bokmål system texts and system pages will be considerably updated and extended from 1.8 and earlier releases. No help texts or tutorials are available.
