2007-05-30T02:16:14 <nwp> ThomasWaldmann: saw your note re. logging btw, thanks. Haven't had any time to play with moin recently, so haven't really kept up. I do remember seeing that everything had changed and not having any problems though, so it may be that with the changes you've made it's no longer an issue. Will let you know either way when I get a chance to spend some time on it.
2007-05-30T07:59:13 <ThomasWaldmann> nwp: thanks
2007-05-30T09:53:49 <dreimark> ThomasWaldmann: the data_dir converter, do you have an idea when its ready, I would prefer to migrate one of my documentation servers soon.
2007-05-30T09:54:41 <dreimark> its only an internal one but it would make a lot of things easier.
2007-05-30T09:55:33 <dreimark> otherwise what do I need to change without that converter?
2007-05-30T10:46:19 <dreimark> bb
2007-05-30T11:42:04 <grzywacz> zomg google surprise :o
2007-05-30T11:43:03 <xorAxAx> what is it?

2007-05-30T11:48:12 <grzywacz> Hm? :>
2007-05-30T11:48:17 <zenhase> did it come with UPS or regular postal services?
2007-05-30T11:48:26 <grzywacz> Regular postman brought it here.
2007-05-30T11:48:36 <zenhase> k
2007-05-30T11:48:42 <grzywacz> Actually, I'm kind of amazed by their speed. ;]
2007-05-30T11:50:43 <zenhase> yeah, quite impressive
2007-05-30T11:51:25 * grzywacz off to uni, will be back in the evening
2007-05-30T11:54:22 <zenhase> hmm no
2007-05-30T11:54:29 <zenhase> did not arrive yet
2007-05-30T11:55:34 <zenhase> in my students dorm packages arrive at a postoffice and we get notification in our small mailboxes
2007-05-30T12:05:36 <ThomasWaldmann> dreimark: most stuff is about _ vs blank in pagenames, strange attachment names using blanks / umlauts / etc...
2007-05-30T12:05:59 <ThomasWaldmann> and progress on the converter is extremely slow
2007-05-30T12:09:50 <neagulm> grzywacz, I have received a book too today
2007-05-30T12:10:52 <xorAxAx> grzywacz: last year they needed months
2007-05-30T12:17:38 <neagulm> today I have my last exam...
2007-05-30T12:18:11 <xorAxAx> good luck
2007-05-30T12:35:45 <dreimark> neagulm: good luck too!
2007-05-30T12:40:15 <dreimark> thomasfanslau seems to have a fan
2007-05-30T12:45:45 <neagulm> dreimark, today i will replace the current behavior of feeding the text of the page with a email version (multipart/alternative) in order to provide the attachments to the classifier
2007-05-30T12:46:31 <neagulm> dreimark, is there a way (included in MM) to extract the text of PDF or odt files ?
2007-05-30T12:46:49 <dreimark> neagulm: see filter and xapian
2007-05-30T12:46:57 <neagulm> dreimark, ok
2007-05-30T12:48:03 <dreimark> neagulm: see http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/FilterMarket too
2007-05-30T12:52:04 <ThomasWaldmann> dreimark: strange that it doesnt get denied by antispam
2007-05-30T12:53:09 <neagulm> brb
2007-05-30T12:54:36 <xorAxAx> grzywacz: ping
2007-05-30T13:23:46 <johill> dreimark: nice, thanks
2007-05-30T13:24:56 <dreimark> johill: may be you have an idea how to ommit the renderText call
2007-05-30T13:25:19 <johill> don't think so, most of the parser/formatter stuff is beyond me
2007-05-30T17:36:28 <lanius> hi
2007-05-30T17:36:58 <lanius> what is the bookmarks field in every user for?
2007-05-30T17:43:37 <johill> dunno, have you tried grep '\.user'?
2007-05-30T17:49:22 <xorAxAx> hi lanius
2007-05-30T17:49:23 <lanius> not yet
2007-05-30T17:49:27 <xorAxAx> lanius: its the recentchanges bookmark
2007-05-30T17:54:21 <ThomasWaldmann> lanius: until when you have read RC
2007-05-30T17:54:40 <ThomasWaldmann> (wiki farm capable)
2007-05-30T17:55:05 <ThomasWaldmann> brb
2007-05-30T17:59:15 <dreimark> bbl
2007-05-30T18:23:05 <lanius> ThomasWaldmann: xorAxAx: i don't understand yet
2007-05-30T18:23:44 <xorAxAx> lanius: well, you see it on the recentchanges page
2007-05-30T18:23:48 <xorAxAx> if you are logged in
2007-05-30T18:24:45 <ThomasWaldmann> lanius: this is what makes RC comfortable :)
2007-05-30T18:25:22 <lanius> ah ok, and why is it bookmarks{}?
2007-05-30T18:25:29 <grzywacz> xorAxAx, pong, back from uni :)
2007-05-30T18:26:38  <xorAxAx> lanius: i guess its wiki->timestamp
2007-05-30T18:26:40 <grzywacz> lanius, I have a question to you related to your reworking of storage layer
2007-05-30T18:26:43 <xorAxAx> because of wiki farms
2007-05-30T18:27:25 <lanius> grzywacz: yes
2007-05-30T18:27:42 <lanius> xorAxAx: ah ok
2007-05-30T18:27:51 <xorAxAx> at least i hope so
2007-05-30T18:37:58 <ThomasWaldmann> lanius: user_dir can be shared in a farm, thus RC and quicklinks have to be interwiki capable
2007-05-30T18:39:28 <lanius> yes, i understand
2007-05-30T18:49:13 <grzywacz> lanius, currently (according to xorAxAx), Page objects hold no state, so they can't get corrupted if something modifies them externally. Is it going to change with your reworking of the storage? I mean, if some method of Page calls external code with "self" as an argument.
2007-05-30T18:49:59 <xorAxAx> lanius: the question is - how are pages passed in the code? as objects? who would unlock them if necessary and how?
2007-05-30T18:50:25 <grzywacz> xorAxAx, thanks for clarification.
2007-05-30T19:09:35 <lanius> they are passed as pages with acl checking integrated
2007-05-30T19:12:53 <xorAxAx> ?
2007-05-30T19:14:15 <lanius> you can't corrupt them because you can't edit anything if you don't have the rights to do so
2007-05-30T19:17:06 <grzywacz> I mean, code-wise.
2007-05-30T19:17:27 <grzywacz> If any other piece of code can call a method that would alter some important stateful information.
2007-05-30T19:17:56 <xorAxAx> lanius: well, it would make sense to "downgrade" a page object so that you cannot modify it
2007-05-30T19:18:07 <xorAxAx> what do you mean by "if you don't have the rights to do so"?
2007-05-30T19:26:31 <lanius> i think you can call everything in python if you want to
2007-05-30T19:27:53 <xorAxAx> yes
2007-05-30T19:28:02 <xorAxAx> thats not the point )
2007-05-30T19:28:29 <xorAxAx> the problem is that if the page is enabled from write accesses ... what happens if you pass the page object around?
2007-05-30T19:37:05 <lanius> then you can edit it of course
2007-05-30T19:37:23 <xorAxAx> hmm, ok
2007-05-30T19:37:39 <xorAxAx> what if it was already saved?
2007-05-30T19:38:10 <lanius> generally still, but we could implement a read only downgrade on save, have to think about it
2007-05-30T23:23:38 <grzywacz> I must say that this book is quite interesting.
2007-05-30T23:23:43 <grzywacz> 8)
