I think I am in love with Wiki (MoinMoin)... Let me paraphrase that: I am in love with MoinMoin. I got the code running on a site that is not accessible right now for reasons I can not comprehend and pretty soon I will have it running on the final destination, Network Brothers. (!) A Wiki is running at Network Brothers now! (please note it isn't MoinMoin, but a modified WakkaWiki)

I will probably modify it a bit with time... hopefully before a major release is out.

If you want to email me, I can be reached at <david AT collantes.us> or <david AT netbros.com> or you can visit my web site at collantes(r).US.

Some Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Sorry... I should know better... an offtopic question, how do you get you username linked under the RecentChanges page? Mine shows plain, not hyperlinked...
A: Nothing is off-topic on your homepage. Just remove the space in your name in preferences and it will show hyperlinked. Easy, ain't it?

Q: How is the home icon at the top generated? I am testing on my own MoinMoin and it is not showing.
A: It shows up as soon as you are a logged in user (so create a user account like you did here). The point is that you have to have a namepage identical to your login.

Q: Which page to edit for changing the existing header and footer?
A: No page, but moin_config.py and some other *.py if that isn't enough.

Q: How can I force people to register before they can do any editing?
A: Read the mailing list archives, and the help pages. It is commented out on security.py. It can also be added on the moin_config.py.

Q: What's the reason of having a password and login, when it is not used at all? Is that there for a future usage? Is the username patch going to be added to the core of MoinMoin?

A: People aren't forced to log in. But often they want to voluntarily identify themselves. The login name is used on the RecentChanges page. Reasons people like identifying themselves (and other people don't), even when it is optional, are discussed at UserNameDiscussion . The World Wide wiki FAQ http://www.worldwidewiki.net/wiki/WorldWideWikiFAQs also briefly discusses "what's the point of logging in ?". -- DavidCary

Q: How do I install parsers on my MoinMoin? I have see Macro and Action folder, but not parsers. There is not reference on that on ParserMarket.
A: It is under /parser/ on lib/python/MoinMoin, or whatever directory you used on your installation.

Q: What is the difference between Title 1 through 5? I tried them all and noticed not visible changes?
A: The font size1. Do you have CSS enabled in your browser. Did you try another browser?

Q: I am getting WikiMacroTestCase FAIL at http://www.pupo.us/moin.cgi?test . Got the source from the CVS this morning. What could be causing that?
A: Fixed. Either do a cvs up or simply ignore that. I had to hack the timing routines to avoid all sorts of underflow problems around 1970-01-01 (time == 0), so the time routines won't work between 1970-01-01 and a few days later.

Q: How can I make it, so the whole wiki runs without showing the moin.cgi script? I renamed moin.cgi to index.cgi and I have mod_rewrite doing:

but it will still show http://www.pupo.us/index.cgi/HelpOnEditing, for example. How can I make it, so it will be http://www.pupo.us/HelpOnEditing?
A: You must set an script alias.

ScriptAlias / "/path/to/moin.cgi"

May be you'll need to allow CGI executing from this directory.

Q: Shouldn't we move some of the answered questions to HelpMiscellaneous/FrequentlyAskedQuestions?
