Create a New Profile

[[CreateProfile()]]

Please fill out Name, Password, Password repeat and Email.

It is best to choose a WikiName (like FirstnameLastname) as username to get your changes and signatures link back to your WikiHomepage. Your email is needed for you to be able to get notifications on page changes and to recover lost login data.

Notes

• [[CreateProfile()]] si a variant of [[UserPreferences]]. It gives only the necessary four fields and only one button: Create Profile. Nothing else.

• Here comes the hard but important bit: The user expects that hitting "Create Profile" will bring her to a new page. Three scenarios are possible (in decreasing usability):

  1. Creating a profile logs you in automatically.

     • Hitting "Create Profile" logs you in and redirects you to <UserName>.

     • Since <UserName> does not exist yet, ../WelcomeNewUser is displayed.

  2. You have to log in by hand

     • Hitting "Create Profile" logs you in and redirects you to <UserName>?action=login&first=true.

     • This displays the text from ../FirstLogIn. You log in, which brings you to <UserName>

     • Since <UserName> does not exist yet, ../WelcomeNewUser is displayed.

  3. You have to log in by hand (simple version)

     • Hitting "Create Profile" logs you in and redirects you to <UserName>?action=login.

     • This displays the text from ../LogIn. You log in, which brings you to <UserName>

     • Since <UserName> does not exist yet, ../WelcomeNewUser is displayed.
