MMDE has been partly integrated into the normal release. Nevertheless there is the issue of a missing migration path currently because the upgrade requires the execution of the migration scripts. After I have figured that out, there will be a release. Until then, you can download the normal MoinMoin release, migrate the data manually and update the codebase. -- AlexanderSchremmer 2008-02-04 17:08:55

Hi there is not much to do. You can use for example Movable Python. You have only to call moin.py from the toplevel dir or the migration script.
Hi Alexander! Just came up with this since I have just answered a question on http://wikimatrix.org, where some person wanted to run his personal wiki completely from an usb stick. That's no problem with the exe-standalone for win users I told him. How about linux and mac os? Is there a way to run the MMDE python versions also from a thumbdrive, i.e. can I run Python from a thumbdrive?? - Thats very easy - just copy the .tgz distribution of MMDE to the stick (maybe even to the same directory as the .exe distribution - but do not destroy your old wiki subdirectory). Then you should be able to launch MMDE using the system's python. Neither it is sensible to provide binaries here nor is it feasible - the binary ABI of such systems do not have a single common stable base like the windows world (and linux and Mac OS X usually have a python installed).
Alexander: I'm happy to see that Hierarchical ACL will soon be available as a standard feature. Am I correct in understanding that you added the final implementation? You may have noticed my comments on the page HierarchicalAccessControlList... since then I found MoinMoinPatch/HierarchicalACL, and the code in that patch looks like a correct, MoinMoin-consistent implementation. Will the released feature work like that patch? |
I also noticed that both the code comments and the documentation on MoinMaster are incomplete / incorrect (based on the patch code). Yes, I have been notified by Reimar that I should answer on that page and it is on my todo list. I mainly applied the patch on the wiki page and rewrote only minor parts (I think I found some minor bugs). Sounds like you are pretty busy, so no need to repsond to my original post (my questions are answered now). I'll go ahead and update the help pages and edit my original comments to reflect the end result. I'll also file a feature request for the for the #subacl concept.
